Hasina and Maya.  Maya is the black and white kitty. They live in Edmonton, Alberta Canada with their mum, Kate.  Kate called me because Maya had litter box issues.  Maya requested a litter box with sand in it and Kate did that. Maya is now using the litter box!

This is my boy Casey.Well, he really isn't my "boy."  Casey used to live in my neighborhood and I would take him for walks when his humans, Ray and Martha, were away on business trips.  When we first meant, Casey wasn't very sure about going with me, but then he decided since I was going to take him on walks, which he loves, he figured I was alright.  He became one of the pack members fairly quickly.  We had some really great times and I miss him.  Martha, Ray and Casey all move to Alexandria, VA and now he gets to experience all kinds of new stuff like show and winter!!

Finding lost animals is not my favorite thing to do. It is very difficult to determine where an animal may be because I need to look through their eyes and then interpret what they see.  There was one particular week when I was getting several calls from people wanting me to assist them in finding a lost animal. There was one call that really stood out from others. The person was very concerned because she could not find one of her cats. She had looked all over the house and still had not found him. Now if you live with a cat, you know that they could be right next to you and you don't see them. Well, this kitty did not come for breakfast and hadn't been seen for at least 24 hours. By the time I got the call it was longer than that! The person requested I come to her house to help her look for the cat, which I did. All along the person just could not understand how the kitty could have gotten out of the house. I kept feeling that the cat was inside, but she assured me that she had torn the house up looking for the cat.  When I arrived I decided I would walk around the neighborhood to see if I could get a feel for where the cat might be hiding.  I walk and looked for an hour and still didn't feel the kitty was outside.  It was about time for me to leave, but the person wanted me to look inside just in case. So we looked in every cupboard, closet, behind things. Everywhere a cat would like to hide. We were just about done looking and I noticed a beautiful amethyst in an alcove. While I was admiring the beauty I looked up and, you guessed it, the cat was sitting there looking right at me. He was acting like what is all the fuss anyway! Needless to say the human was very happy to have her kitty safe and sound.

Part of what I do is assist people at times when their animal companion is making its transition into Spirit. For anyone who has loved and lost an animal companion, you know this is a very challenging time.  The big question or concern most people have is about the comfort of their companion. They don't want the companion to be suffering.  There was a client once that was very fearful that her cat may have suffered longer than necessary. When I asked the cat about this, her reply surprised me. She told me that animals don't suffer.  Suffering is a human condition in which humans judge death and the process of dying. Animals move from one state to another without judgment. They are able to be with what is going on in the moment.  However, if your companion animal is in pain, it is your job to make sure they get the needed medication to keep them pain free. Some will have a preference about whether they want to be assisted or not in making their transition. I recently had a dog tell me that she was ready to go and that she wanted assistance and she told the day she wanted to pass. Not all are that specific. Sometimes I feel that the animals are waiting for the human to come into acceptance about their passing. They continue to teach us right up until the end!
